Social studies at R.C Palmer builds and improves on your analytical skills, ability to find and remember key details, and interpret POVs that you have gained last year. This course explores historical, global, and regional conflicts and aims to find the message that we can learn from it, as well as proving that you can separate important points from filler/less important information.
Information will be learnt from textbooks such as text like "Crossroads: a meeting of worlds." (by Michael Cranny)
Issues such as political institutions, economic ideologies, Indigenous governance, and truth and reconciliation will be a major focus in both grades. And through these topics, students will learn to interpret, analyze, and present information.
