Canada is a bilingual nation, boasting two official languages: English and French. This is why we encourage you to enroll in the French course offered at Palmer. Although our school is not a French immersion, it features a comprehensive French program. This program is designed to give students a solid foundation in the language, covering grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills. This is crucial for effective communication in both personal and professional spheres, which is essential for securing jobs that require strong communication skills or simply for everyday interactions. Overall, if you want to thrive in Canada or want to learn a new language, we strongly recommend our (mostly mandatory for grade 8s) French course.

Quick history of french language (in CANADA 🇨🇦)
1867 was the start of something that became history of the country of Canada and 3 decades later in 1901, questions arose among the 5.3 million citizens of Canada, what languages were allowed to be spoken in the maple syrup country? In the time studies showed that among the 5.3 million citizens 61% were British and 31% were french (others were native and European), and out of all those people, 78% of the population were able to speak english and 32% were able to speak french totalling the number of people who could speak both languages to 700k (the extra 10% were bilingual)! Suddenly in 1921, numbers for french speaking citizens plummeted to 15.2% and in 1969 the official languages act established french as an official language.
